Get to know yourCollective Bargaining Agreements • Do a more detailed review: • Insurance? – pooling?, 5940?, differences between contracts? • Web access? • TRI provisions? • Incentives other than TRI? • Special provisions for classified? • Have there been grievances? How were they settled? Did they go to arbitration?
Get Ready to bargain • Plan, plan, plan • Determine your parameters • Get input from all administrators • Know what neighboring districts or like-sized districts are doing • Develop initial proposals • Know the tenor of past bargains • Set ground rules
