  6. Evaluative Criteria

  7. Evaluative Criteria Review Criteria Definitions: • Reviewers are to consider each of the criteria to determine the scientific and technical merit of each submitted proposal. • Rigor • Investigators • Relevance • Significance • Budget

  8. Review Process Scoring: For each application that is discussed, eligible committee members (those without conflicts of interest) will award points on a 5 point scale with 5 = excellent or optimal and 1 = poor or least optimal for each of the funding criteria. The final score for each proposal discussed will be determined by calculating the arithmetic average of all of the eligible members’ scores and multiplying each average by evaluative weights to arrive at a final composite score for each proposal. The top rated proposals will be eligible for funding consideration. Regardless of outcome, all applicants will receive a written critique called a Summary Statement. The Summary Statement represents a combination of the reviewers’ comments and scores for individual criteria.

  9. Review Process Research Proposal Review Matrix Coding Directions: Rating: Assign numbers 1-5 for each submission using the following Scale “The submitted proposal’s <insert criteria wording such as relevance to ASHRM’s mission and vision statements> is” 1 = Poor 2= Fair 3= Good 4= Very Good 5 = Excellent Score = Rating X Weight Total Score = SUM (Scores) The highest score possible for any single submission is 100 Points. The top rated proposals should be forwarded as eligible for funding consideration. Evaluators should write a Summary Statement for all proposals regardless of summative scores.
