  3. Grant Types • Major Grants: $3,000-10,000 • Small Grants: $1000-3,000 • Micro Grants: Up to $1000 (rolling basis) • PSEG Grants: Up to $5,000

  4. 2014 Funding Encouraging small grants. Applicants applying for a major grant will not be considered for a small grant Total Awards-$45,000 • $10,000 for small grants • $2,500 for micro grants • $10,000 for PSEG grants • $20,000 for major grants

Interest AreasAir, Water and Land Pollution • Community organizing for environmental justice • Sustainability education programs • Sustainability initiatives • Air and water cleanup activities • Increased public access to natural resources • Innovative technology • Applied research in community public health and environmental areas • Community planning activities contributing to healthier neighborhoods • Small and micro grants-mission support and capacity building

Funding Criteria“Bang for the Buck” • Consistency with mission and interest areas • Likely or projected impact: clear goals • Potential of success: track record, team • Collaboration: Other Partners • Evaluation/measurement plan: specificity • Cost and cost effectiveness: leveraging other dollars

  7. Funding CriteriaExamples • Leveraging Resources: Dollars, Volunteers • “Train the Trainers” • Environmentally Distressed Neighborhoods • Grassroots Organizations • How do we know you’ve made a difference? • Phase 1 of a Larger Plan

  8. PSEG Grant • Community Benefits Agreement with PSEG • Different Application; Same Timing • 2 Mile Radius from PSEG Harbor Power Plant: Lower Fair Haven and New Haven Port Area • Focus on air quality improvements

  10. Micro Grant Process • Submit a funding request letter • No more than two pages • Who it benefits • Specific activities/use of funds • What you hope to accomplish Can be used for capacity building Call if you have questions/need help

  11. Awards Process • Application Due: November 17, 2014 • Grants Committee with Scoring Process • Scoring Discussion • Final Decision—End of January, 2015
