  3. Outcomes of Review 2012 • Extensive consultation with stakeholders in 2012 • SVQ take up increasing – retain for sector • Generally SVQs work well but need to be updated • Confusion about purposes of each SVQ • Too much duplication and inappropriate units • Level 1 not used

  4. Goodbye Food Manufacture! • Level 1 (closed for registrations Dec 2012) • Level 2 last registrations on 31 March 2013 • Level 3 last registrations on 31 March 2013 • New SVQs Operational 1 April 2013

Protecting Animal Welfare atTime of Killing (PATK) • SQA and Improve have developed a competence based qualification to comply with requirements of EU Regulations covering Animal Welfare • Scottish Government, Defra and devolved nation authorities are finalising the implementation arrangements • Food Standards Agency will issue Certificates of Competence (the Licences) not same as qualification • Improve and Animal Welfare Team will host workshops specific to PATK later in 2013
