Introduction10:33 AM DK: HIA maps will be the foundation for the Kresge grant. • 2 year project started in January 2014. • Purpose: define the SLR vulnerability maps from here on out. • Please give any input from here on out.
Review of HIA Tasks10:35 AM SP: Screening and Scoping sections had been reviewed and finalized by SC. Literature review finalized. Awaiting review and finalizing of the CRA, Existing Conditions and Final Report.
Assessment: Existing Conditions10:36 AM • DK: MJ and KB’s comments incorporated into the Existing Conditions. • VB: Include discussion of secondhand smoke. Few grammatical errors to correct. Include cheap and easy measures that can be taken to impact the environment in the recommendations of HIA. • MJ: Include “novel nicotine” products to cover all areas in smoking. • MJ: Rework percent rate change to give figures more meaning and relevance. • DK: Revised Existing Conditions will be sent out to SC members in next few days. • DK: CRA is not completed yet.
Assessment: Mapping10:36 AM • DK: Review of the Kresge grant mapping project. • DK: HIA mapping is in preliminary stages. • AG: Maps will be incorporated into the document and available as attachments for download. • DK: Discussion on BRACE work, FPHI mapping and ICD-9 codes to be continued on a separate call for those interested (MJ, VB) • JJ: Concern on addressing low elevation areas with existing adequate flood/ drainage management infrastructure denoted as vulnerable at SLR 1 ft scenario. • AG: May parse this out in rural and urban assessments in report. • DK: Shaded areas in water bodies on maps will be edited out.
Assessment: Mapping10:36 AM • DK: KB has shapefiles for county tracts- will get those from KB. • DK: Will send out the Methodology explanation for the maps to SC members to clarify calculation process per MJ’s question on this. • AG: Tract specific data was from above county death rates by Census tract from FloridaCharts. • AG: Mapping for heat wave vulnerability- is the Land Stats model ok to use? • MJ: Recommends this is a good bet for heat wave modeling. • KH: Suggestion to share maps with laypersons to see if they are able to interpret. • AG: Maps will be pilot tested among partners.
