  3. What’s it look like? Melanoma Skin Cancer in different and rare forms.

  4. Who’s at risk? • People with freckles • Those with fair skin tones • Those who burn easily • People with light colored eyes, like green and blue eyes • People with naturally red or blonde hair • People who spend a lot of time outdoors • People who have a family history of skin cancer or melanoma

  5. Treatment • Skin cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the skin. -usually treated with radiation -Rarer forms include operation

  6. Prevention • Use a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher whenever you spend time outdoors. -This applies to all outdoor activities: athletics, shopping, picnicking, walking or jogging, gardening, even waiting for a bus. -Choose a sunscreen with ingredients that block both UVA and UVB rays -Apply liberally and evenly to all exposed skin. -Be sure to cover often-missed spots -Choose a product that suits your skin and your activity.

  7. Prevention • Cover up -Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants. -A broad-brimmed hat -UV-blocking sunglasses

  8. Prevention • Seek the shade. • Never seek a tan. -Stay away from tanning parlors and artificial tanning devices.

  9. Think about it… • Do you really want to look like this When you’re 30? • Tanning=Bad skin, wrinkles, sunspots and bags! Eeek!
