Shared Class Poem. I Am a Poison Dart Frog I am a poison dart frog. I live in the African Rain Forest. I wonder if my bright colors will scare off my enemy. I hear a sneaky cobra slithering up behind me. I see bravery in the eyes of my predator. I want the cobra close enough

Shared Class Poem I Am a Poison Dart Frog I am a poison dart frog. I live in the African Rain Forest. I wonder if my bright colors will scare off my enemy. I hear a sneaky cobra slithering up behind me. I see bravery in the eyes of my predator. I want the cobra close enough so that I can secrete my poison and watch him die. I am a poison dart frog. I question why humans need the trees that make up the habitat of millions of creatures. I feel melancholy because my own home may be next to be destroyed. I touch the leaves and branches that create a shelter for me. I worry I will never find another home as good as the one I have now. I cry out. NO! Do not cut down this house. It is my home! I understand I can’t control the human’s actions. I am a poison dart frog.
Shared Class Poem Continued I say CROAK! CROAK! to find the perfect mate I believe the two of us will create thousands of off-spring. I dream of a happy life for my tiny froglets. I try to protect the larvae from it’s many predators. I hope each egg will survive so that they can grow up and enjoy the rain forest. I was once a tadpole swimming through the waterfalls. But now I am a parent taking care of my own tadpoles. I am a poison dart frog.
