  2. Topic • Due to a recent Tylenol recall, the company has been trying to improve their product. We took a group of 200 randomly selected people to test the new formula that is more effective at reducing the amount of time to subdue a headache. A group of 100 people were given the new Tylenol and another group of 100 people were given the original Tylenol. Each group was then subdivided by gender. Neither group knew which Tylenol they were receiving. The experiment was conducted every month over a period of 2 years.

  3. Confounding • We are not told the ages of the groups or how frequent they have headaches. We also do not know how frequent the people take Tylenol as well as if the people have any health issues.

  4. Blinding • Neither of the groups know which Tylenol they are receiving.

  5. Placebo • The placebo is the original Tylenol. It is needed to test how long the original Tylenol treats a headache compared to the new formula.

  6. Placebo Effect • Some people may experience faster relief with the placebo (original Tylenol) because they think they have the new Tylenol.

  7. Blocking • The two groups were subdivided by gender.

  8. Replication • The experiment was conducted every month over the next two years.

  9. Conclusion • Our experiment is accurate because it is not a convenience sample and the people were randomly selected. We don’t know the people coming in to test the new Tylenol and we still have randomness in our experiment.
