Interested in earning college credit while you are still in high school? College Credit Now might be the choice for you.
The Georgia Department of Education has several opportunities for students to investigate to find the best fit. They are under a program called College Credit Now, otherwise known as Dual Enrollment.
Why consider Dual Enrollment? • Provides opportunities for students to obtain high school and college credit simultaneously. • Dual enrolled courses eases the transition from high school to college. • Provides students an early start on their college careers. • Saves students and parents money.
Why NOT Dual Enrollment? There are many advantages for dual enrollment. However, it is not the right fit for everyone. • It best fits the student who is TRULY ready to be a college student. • Being enrolled in college and high school at the same time can make it difficult to be active on the high school campus and other high school activities. • You are not in school with friends on a daily basis. • Colleges admissions prefer AP courses over Dual Enrollment courses.
