  3. The Incredible Worth of a WomanSelected Scriptures Mother’s Day began in 1908 when Anna Jarvis of West Virginia persuaded local churches to honor them Commercialization nationalized it and made it a day of obligation

  4. Historical Shift Historically, a culture’s value of a woman was related to bearing children (Gen. 29-31, 1 Samuel 1) In much of our society, having children diminishes your value Feminism has changed the basis for worth to career, self-interest, self-fulfillment, and masculine traits

  5. God’s Design of a Woman Genesis 1& 2 The dominion mandate: Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it; Physically designed to bear and nurture children Emotionally designed to nurture and support Boys & Girls are different

  6. The Dangers of Feminism It shifts worth to typically male characteristics and success in typically male roles – yet it castigates men Basic premise – you’re not important unless you do what men do. The reward: Increasing ulcers, high blood pressure, heart attack, nervous breakdowns & other stress symptoms

The Dangers of Feminism: Abortion It is about power – not the woman Women are kept ignorant & exploited instead of informed and protected The life in her womb is called something other than a baby / child The “back-alley butchers” are on main street It is a deadly strike against one of the unique aspects of being a woman

  8. The Blessings of Children / Motherhood Psalm 127:3; 128:3 Genesis 24:60 – Rebekah Ruth 4:11,12 Her children reflect her influence – 1 & 2 Kings, Proverbs 23:24-25; 10:1; 29:15 The future of her family & society are in her hands

  12. Additional Considerations God is not “anti-woman” but His word affirms differing roles for men & women Danger of not fulfilling / stepping out of Biblical roles Men are shamed Women put in danger of sins of pride and actively usurping the man’s role

  13. The Source of True Worth in a Woman Fulfilling God’s design for her as a woman and as a unique individual. Failure in primary purpose results in ultimate worthlessness of all else The true worth of a woman centers on her faithfulness in knowing and following the will of God

  14. Conclusions Don’t let society / feminism take away your inestimable worth as a woman Your worth is found in the infinite God who created you & His plan for you Rejoice in the wonderful privilege you have in being created by God as a woman
