    1. OIF � High-Back HMMWV Flank Armor Extension 04253UA Project Image No image displayed. Description Requested by I MEF. IED trend analysis during the last two months show a disproportionate number of deaths and injured happening to Marines while riding in the cargo area of the high-back HMMWV's. The flank armor side panels on the high back HMMWV's need to be vertically extended by 10 inches, in order to cut down on the deaths and injuries caused by IED's while riding in the cargo area of the high back HMMWV. The addition of ten inches of side armor will allow Marines to better survive the initial IED blast. Proposed Solution Fully Funded. Request was for 1,000 systems. Status (as of 16 June 05) 675 are on-hand. 0 enroute. The balance of 375 are produced. Shipping guidance pending A2 w/ MAK fielding. Final delivery is TBD.
