7. What did the Founding Fathers do for the USA?

8. Creators / Designers of our Present political system The fathers created the main design of the government that we as a nation use and depend on today.

9. Proclaimed our freedom from Great Britain The fathers were the ones who formally took a stance against Great Britain. These actions would have meant the end of their lives had the colonies lost against the England.

10. Acts of Treason When the Founding Fathers put their names on the Declaration of Independence they where committing a public act of treason against the King. This shows how much they truly believed in the cause they were working towards.

11. Signatures • In those times a signature meant an awful lot. The most impactful way to commit to a thought or idea would be to sign your name under the document to show your support. In this case the people who signed where putting their names on evidence that they were committing treason. It would have been easy to not sign, but these fine men wanted to reap what they sow

12. Bringing the 13 Colonies into One The importance of being unified is because those who stand alone will die. Without the Founders unifying the 13 colonies there have been no hope in fighting of the invasions of the British.

13. Was God Really a big Deal to the Founding Fathers?

14. Many had a Christian Statement of Faith Many of the founding fathers took a public stance on their Christian beliefs. This played a huge role in how they hoped to form the new baby nation.

15. 1st Continental Congress • The first congress spent the first half of the meeting deciding on what prayer would be said to open the proceedings. This does not seem to be the actions of men who somewhat followed Christ, but men who followed Him while heatedly.

16. Under God • The short phrase “under God” in the pledge of allegiance was no accident. The idea that they were putting the country under God shows their dedication Christ. It was their hope that whatever was done for the U.S it would be done for the glory of God.

17. In God We Trust On all U.S. currency the phrase “In God We Trust” is clearly printed or engraved. They were so dedicated to God that they put the phrase on everything as a constant reminder that it is God that our nation relies on.

18. Why Christian Values Were Important • Christian values were important because they set up the main ideas of good and bad. Without these ideas there is no basis for many of the laws that the Fathers set up for us. An example of laws that would have no basis without religious ideals are stealing and killing.

19. Did They Want Religious Freedom? • One of the main reasons people came to the Americas was to have Christian freedom. The designers never planned on adding other “gods” to the documents they were creating which leads me to believe they did not want religious freedom in the Government.

22. George Washington • February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799 • First President of the United States. • Became the first president by a unanimous vote.

23. John Adams • October 30, 1735 – July 4, 1826 • Second President of the United States

24. Thomas Jefferson • April 13, 1743 – July 4, 1826 • Author of the Declaration of Independence • Third President of the U.S.

25. James Madison • March 16, 1751 – June 28, 1836 • The fourth president of the U.S. • Drafted the Constitution

26. Benjamin Franklin • January 17, 1706 – April 17, 1790 • Known inventor and Statesman who was an outspoken leader. • He was never a President

27. Samuel Adams • September 27, 1722 – October 2, 1803 • Statesman, and one of the main activist who started the Revolutionary movement

28. Thomas Paine • January 29, 1737 – June 8, 1809 • Author of the pamphlet called Common Sense which convinced many colonist and founding fathers of the wisdom of open rebellion

29. Patrick Henry • May 29, 1736 – June 6, 1799 • Famous for his speech in which he states :Give me liberty or give me death”.

30. Alexander Hamilton • January 11, 1755 – July 12, 1804 • Fought in the Revolutionary War • Huge proponent for the Constitution

31. Gouverneur Morris • January 31, 1752 – November 6, 1816 • A Statesman who helped provide legislation leadership to back George Washington in his fight against the British.

32. What are the Articles of Confederation?

33. The Articles of Confederation was an agreement among the 13 founding states that legally established the United States.

34. Why did it not Work? • The Articles of Confederation failed to achieve what it was designed to do because the founders failed to give the central government enough power to accomplish its goals.

One of the really neat things about the founders who helped create the Declaration of Independence, is that they seem to have had a lot of insight about where our nation was going and what we would struggle with in the future. Because the document is still able to help us with modern day issues.

41. The Declaration of Independence is called the living document. This is because the document seams to grow, and can be adjusted into the needs of the people of the U.S.
