Plinkit • Webpage authoring software • Smallest of libraries can have an attractive, easy-to-update web page • No need to know HTML or CSS. • If you can copy and paste from a word processing program, you can use Plinkit. • Plinkit uses an open source software called Plone • Developed in Oregon (LSTA grant) • Oregon invited other states to join in -- Illinois joined in • ADA Compliant!
Top Ten Reasons to Use Plinkit 10. The template is ready to go, just add your content. 9. There is a page for Trustees so the library can meet the obligations of the open meetings act. 8. There is a calendar. 7. Community organization information can be added. 6. It is easy to update from any computer with Internet access. 5. Other Plinkit Information • The annual membership fee for Illinois Plinkit is $250.00. • Your website will be hosted at the Shawnee Library System. • Troy Brown is in charge of maintenance, updating and backing up the Plinkit servers. • Rolling Prairie Library System collects the annual fee. • Each regional library system involved provides training for you. • New features are being added all the time (especially if they have been requested by the members). • A free URL will be provided: YourLibraryName.lib.il.us • Or you can keep your own URL
