3. The 16 children in Mr. Welsh’s Class 2012 have decorated this splendid white tablecloth. Their finished drawings are strewn on the surface as if you might pluck them up and frame them any time you would like. But no, it is an illusion, a trompel’oeil, a trick of the eye, for these works of art will forever stay on the tablecloth to remind you that childhood is only a short time in their lives. You who are the lucky winner of this priceless piece of cooperative effort will be able to treasure it for years to come. In this accompanying booklet you will find the artists’ own words and descriptions of their work. Produced for the Murch Auction on March 17 2012, to benefit Ben W. 4. Daphne : It is a sunny day. There is a meadow with 20 flowers. I am walking my dog, Jojo, she is black. I am wearing a green T shirt in the meadow full of flowers. I will let the flowers be there.

5. Donovan : It is going to be a field. I put medium size flowers, daisies, a dandelion on top. There is a house which is half off. It is going to be scary. The windows have been broken and the house has been haunted for years. Someone lived in it first when it was pretty. Then that man heard the ghost. The house has 2 chimneys and I am walking outside in the field.

6. Eleanor : I am making a rainbow. It is a sunny day. 2 clouds are in the sky. It is actually a rainbow house. The chimney has smoke coming out. The windows are at the back of the house so you can’t see them. The person left. There is a flying ostrich in the sky. It is orange. A dog is swimming in this pond. A kitty is at the top of the house. A part of this house is actually underground so the beds are in one room underground and they are all bunk beds. These are sparrows in the sky and mountains too.

7. Jasper : I am going to draw people camping. These are the logs to make the fire. The fire is yellow and red. Here is my family, my sister, my mom, my dad and me. There are mountains behind us. My mother is thinking about my stuffed dog. I am adding more blue and then it is done.

8. Gabriel : I am making the Golden Gate Bridge. It is in San Francisco. These are the cars on the bridge. It is the sunny day when we [me and my family] went there. The cables are holding up the bridge. There is a cable car with me in it. It is on the mountain behind the Golden Gate Bridge. There is grass on the mountain.

9. Xinle: I started with a tiny house for an ant with brown rocks and some ants next to it. I put an orange bird in the sky and here is the sun and white clouds in the blue sky. A blue and green cat is walking. Big purple raindrops are falling from the clouds. A girl is walking her cat here. She is wearing a raincoat with flowers.

10. Devan: The ocean has some waves and some beach at low tide. It is a tropical beach with a bird in the sky with colorful feathers. There is a small motor boat. I am some things I am remembering from my summer vacation in Maine, so this is sort of 2 places at once- a tropical beach and a beach in Maine-. The water is splashing up because the boat here is going fast. The bird has a greenish face. There is a sort of a bed in the boat and a mast with a flag, a rainbow one and an American flag too. Here is a draw bridge and grass growing on it and a tree with a nest and when a boat is there you can use the draw bridge to go on the boat and when there is no boat the end is up in the air. I am on the bridge. There are black pipes so the plants can get water from the ocean after the salt is separated out. The short black lines spray the water out. The boats have captains.

11. Lila : A girl is under the clouds in a field of flowers. The color of the wind blowing is in the clouds. Different flowers with different colors are in the field. The sun is peeking from behind a cloud. The girl is looking and picking all the beautiful flowers. There is a tree next to her and a blue jay in the sky and a red cardinal bird. There are 2 nests in the tree for the birds and their babies.

12. Connor : Here at the bottom is a row of roses outside in the garden. The ground is with grass. Then there are blue and purple hydrangeas – the more acid the ground is, the bluer the hydrangeas are - next to them is a row of yellow daffodils. The clouds above my garden spell my name!

13. Isaac : it is a sunny day. There is a 4 car subway train. This is a special train line that can go above the ground too. Isaac is the engineer. The blue here is the Pacific Ocean. There is a teenager possum in the ocean and a bird in the sky and mountains. My friend John stands on top of the mountain yelling my name. Sam and Junior are in the train. There are big green trees here.

14. Emma : I drew yellow birds in the sky. Here is a faraway home so it is small. It is my home. The tree here is an apple tree with a bird’s nest. There is another tree on the other side and a hammock between them, I am in the hammock. It is spring time and the apples are ready.

15. Lauryn: It is a sunny day. I am walking past the flowers. I am wearing green aqua color pants and a red shirt. I drew ravens in the sky above the house. There is the house and it is my grandma’s house.

16. Juan Pablo : I am making a colorful car. Hills are in the distance over here. There is only one house .You can’t see the windows because it is tiny and far away on the top of the hill. The car has a blue window and the number 1, because it is racing and it is in the lead. A few black birds are here in the sky and a plane.

17. Diego: It is a sunny day in the summer. A flower grows out of the ground and it is red. It is a red rose. It is also raining so the plants can grow, and more flowers are coming up. The rain is making mud that goes up. Black clouds are in the sky. I have a red and blue umbrella with these short nails pointing out.

18. Ellie : I am drawing the sun and the sky, purple clouds and the ground that is grass and dirt. The horse of many colors has orange ears. The horse is jumping over the dirt. It has a saddle. I am riding the horse. Birds are flying in the sky, a gorgeous colorful butterfly is there too, it hatched from a chrysalis on the tree branch . it is hanging from it here and it is yellow. On the other side of the drawing is another butterfly and it came out of this red cocoon on the branch.

19. Dora : I have a sunny day. I am not drawing plants but I am drawing me eating ice cream. I am with my friend Eleanor. We are eating ice cream. I have chocolate ice cream and my dress is orange. Eleanor is wearing a blue dress and green boots. A butterfly is in the sky.We are jumping and a house is next to us. There is a big green ice cream sign. Eleanor actually has a little heart candy I gave to her.
