Assistant Principal , Mr. Brandon Hall 1-Guidance Counselor & Media Specialist 5-Kindergarten with Para Professional; 5-First Grade; 5-Second Grade; 5-Third Grade; 4-Fourth Grade; 3-Fifth Grade; 3-Special Services with 1 Para Professional; 2 Physical Education; and 1 Music teacher. 12 Support Staff including bookkeeper, secretary, FTE clerk, ISS, custodians and cafeteria.

7. What does it mean to be a Title I School? • Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs. These dollars are used for… – Identifying students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help these student’s meet the State’s challenging content standards. – Purchasing supplemental staff/programs/materials/supplies – Conducting parental Involvement meetings/trainings/activities – Recruiting/Hiring/Retaining Highly Qualified Teachers • Being a Title I school also means parental involvement and parents’ rights.

8. What is the BES Title I Plan? • The BES Title I Plan addresses how the local education agency will use Title I funds throughout the school system to supplement instruction for struggling students. Topics include: – Student academic assessments – Additional assistance provided struggling students – Coordination and integration of federal funds and programs – Parental Involvement Strategies, including the BES Parental Involvement Plan. A copy of BES’s Title I Schoolwide Plan is available on our website and in our Media Center.

9. What is a School Improvement Plan? • The SIP is your School Improvement Plan and includes: – A Needs Assessment and Summary of Data – Goals and Strategies to Address Academic Needs of Students – Professional Development Needs – Coordination of Resources/Comprehensive Budget

10. What is the 1% set-aside and how are parents involved? • Any LEA with a Title I Allocation exceeding $500,000 is required by law to set aside 1% of it’s Title I allocation for parental involvement. • Of that 1%, 5% may be reserved at the LEA for system-wide initiatives related to parental involvement. The remaining 95% must be allocated to all Title I schools in the LEA. Peach County gives 100% of the 1% to the six Title I Schools. For FY15, BES will receive $2,283 of the 1% Set-Aside to implement school-level parent involvement. Therefore, each Title I school receives its portion of the 95% to implement school-level parental involvement.

12. What is our school’s Designation Status? • Schools are no longer identified as in improvement. • Only Reward, Priority, Focus, and Alert Schools are identified. Title I schools with this status are required to implement specific programs and interventions. • BES has not been given a school designation this year which means we are continuing to provide quality education for all our students.

13. Common Core and Georgia • On July 8, 2010, Georgia adopted the Common Core State Standards in K-12 Core subjects released by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices and the Council of Chief State School Officers. With the adoption of these state-led education standards, Georgia is in the first group of states to embrace clear and consistent goals for learning to prepare children for success in college and work. • • The full Common Core standards can be viewed at • https://www.georgiastandards.org • Georgia’s Standard Course of Study has been completely • overhauled and new standards have been implemented in classrooms.

30. BES Celebrations Learning Today • All core subjects increased from the previous year. • All core subjects increased in the exceeded area from the previous year accept for Reading and ELA. • Only 1 student each in the 3rd & 5th grade did not pass the CRCT reading. Leading Tomorrow!

Areas for Improvement Learning Today • Lexile scores increase by 5%. • Decrease the number of Discipline Referrals by 2%. • Decrease the number of absences in the over 6 and above by 5%. • Continuous review of pre/post unit assessments, benchmark tests, SLOs, Writescore data to adjust Increase Learning Time (ILT) groups for remediation and enrichment. 40. How our school is using this funding? Byron Elementary School is planning on Title 1: Byron Elementary Schools 2014- 2015 Title 1 budget for the year is $116,800.00. Our parent involvement budget for the year is $2344.00. Plans for funding: 1. Instructional Facilitator 2. 3. Professional Development that supports Common Core, RESA Workshops 4. Computer Software – IXL, Study Island, Reading Eggs 5. Supplemental recourses i.e. workbooks, supplies
