Program Review Process • Criteria established through College-wide consultation. • Program Review Advisory Committee: • Faculty, administration, support staff, students • Reports to Senior Administration and Academic Council • Sets criteria, establish process, review data • Makes recommendations to administration, departments, or policy bodies.
Program Viability Study • Extraordinary Review • Based on Program Viability Definition • Program feasibility and program sustainability • Sustainability based on five year horizon • 26 Factors • Assumes quality has been maintained through annual review process
Viability Criteria • Data from annual Level 1 Review • Additional factors including data from departments, program advisory committees, and transfer institutions. • Examples of additional data: • Adequacy of current resource allocation • Future needs for additional resources • Impact on community, students • Employment outlook • Fit with College mission and direction • Cost effectiveness relative to benchmarks
Viability Process • Affirmation of Criteria (committee, consultation) • Establishment of data sources • Questionnaires sent to program departments • Submissions reviewed by Committee and Viability Profile established for each program • Viability Profile shared with departments for feedback • Recommendations sent to Educational Administration team. Program right-sizing, program growth, and program termination.
Viability Process • Senior administration used viability study recommendations to formulate plan. • Each department was informed of the changes that would be required. • Town hall meeting, press release and web posting of entire plan. • Plan was released in context of future direction for the College.
