But so much around it has. • For the first time, the National September 11 Museum — which includes gut-wrenching artifacts and graphic photos of the attacks — is open on the anniversary. • The museum spans seven stories, mostly underground, and contains artifacts from the attack on the World Trade Center Towers on September 11, 2001 • The first ceremony at the site was held six months after the Twin Towers fell CURRENT EVENTS TERM ONE Sept 11 #2
CURRENT EVENTS SEPTEMBER 11 • One World Trade Center has risen 541 metres above ground zero and will be filled with office workers by this date in 2015 • Family members of those killed in the attacks will gather to read the names of the deceased, pausing the sad roll call only four times: when the first plane struck the World Trade Center, when the second plane struck, when the first tower fell and when the second tower fell. CURRENT EVENTS SEPTEMBER 11 NFL LAUNCHES PROBE INTO HANDLING OF RAY RICE EVIDENCE • The NFL said late Wednesday that former FBI director Robert S. Mueller III will conduct a probe into how the league handled evidence as it investigated domestic violence claims against former Ravens running back Ray Rice. • the investigation will be overseen by NFL owners John Mara of the New York Giants and Art Rooney of the Pittsburgh Steelers. • The NFL's announcement came after a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity that he sent a tape of Rice striking his then-fiancee at a casino to an NFL executive in April. CURRENT EVENTS SEPTEMBER 11 PAYCHEQUE TO PAYCHEQUE A REALITY OF CANADIAN WORKFORCE • The Canadian Payroll Association says things are getting tougher for working Canadians. • The association said the survey found that more than half of employees — 51 per cent — would find it difficult to meet their financial obligations if their paycheque were delayed by a single week. That was up from an average of 49 per cent over the past three years. • Meanwhile, more than a quarter of respondents — 26 per cent — said they probably could not come up with $2,000 over the next month if an emergency expense arose.
