Camp Kindle • The Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta provides safe, quality camp experiences for young people and their families affected by cancer. • We also provide customized camp programs and/or camp facility rentals to community groups year-round. (Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, Youth Groups)
The Project THE PROBLEM • The existing HVAC System for the year round Directors Cabin at Camp Kindle is on its last legs. • Furnace is very inefficient, • Difficult to keep the pilot light operating, • Parts are not available, • Carbon Monoxide issues in the cabin. • Poor ventilation and combustion air.
The Project THE SOLUTION • Install a new energy efficient gas fired Furnace c/w new ductwork, venting, filtration, programmable thermostat, CO detector, new combustion air. • Includes HVAC installation, electrical and gas piping upgrades, duct cleaning, testing balancing and commissioning. • The local HVAC contractor, who donates their maintenance efforts at the Camp, was contracted to perform the work. • All expenses paid by SAC ASHRAE.
Fund Raiser • We incorporated a Hole in Won opportunity at our annual golf tournament. • $20 (or more) donation gave a opportunity to 1 win $10,000 for a hole in one. • All donors had opportunities to win additional prizes. • $4,000 was raised to support the project.

SAC ASHRAE Successes • Southern Alberta Chapter of ASHRAE has set up a Sustainable Community Committee. • A process is being put in place to evaluate possible future projects. • Fundraising opportunities are being developed. • Camp Kindle wish list was sent out to membership and resulted in numerous donations of office, cabin and patio furniture. • Small project created a “Huge Enthusiasm” for future projects.
