Draft Running order of the event • 9.00 arrival - 9.45 Registration ends - At ground floor , Our young ambassadors lead business guests only up to the London Living room via lift for welcome tea/coffee. Badges and welcome packs handed out. All young people are led into the chamber for refreshments and briefings. • 9.30 - 9.45 - Young people briefing in Chamber including planting questions for the Q&A panel. • 9.45 - 10 - BHC Ambassadors to escort business people to Chamber via the lifts • 10.00 - Entry music • 10.02 - 10-05 VT – New 20th event VT showing footage from past events and story so far.. • X2 Young Hosts open the event – Tells their story, runs through the agenda and welcomes Patrick Dempsey to the stage to open the event . • 10.10 - Setting the scene - The Why - Setting the scene, Patrick intro & story so far, Hand over to Kit /Boris - London positioning on sector growth in the hospitality & restaurants and their impact on London. • 10.30 -Youth Employment - The Why - Hosts introduces currently unemployed / recently employed youth Panel interviewed by Jason Cotta discussing the challenges faced by young people today.

Draft running order continued • 10.45 - Work Experience - The What -Hosts introduces Anne Pierce to question a panel of 3 employers on what their business does to offer work experience placements and why creating work experience opportunities are so important for their business. Roaming mic ( SG TBC ) asks 3 Young people sat in the audience to talk about why work experience was so rewarding for them. • 11.10 - Apprentices Compelling Stories from young people & industry leaders - The How Hosts introduces McDonalds Franchisee owner and another business leader ( SG TBC ) on stage with their apprentices to talk about the success of their programme (Other Suggestions from steering group welcome) • 11.25 – Case Studies & Partner Support – We hear a story from 3 young people who has successfully found work via one of our partners programmes / support. Work experience - Anne Pierce (Springboard)/Apprentiship - Gary Chapman (NAS) Employment scheme - Lynda Jones (DWP) This will bring to life the help our partners will offer.

Draft running order continued • 11.45 – 11.55 - Purpose & positioning of The BIG Conversation – John Forrest explains exactly what we would like all the delegates to do once they go back upstairs, ( Talk, listen, network, make a pledge, also explains the partner / career stands set up in the basement lobby. ) • 11.55 – 12.05 Final Call to Action from Ufi - Encourages everyone to take action & pledge and explains the importance of this event and how the BHA is representing the industry, thanks all the steering group etc, bids farewell etc. • 12.05 – 13.00 Refreshments & Big Conversation in London Living Room –Ushered by our ambassadors upstairs to the London Living room via lifts for refreshments, networking & making pledges. • 13.00 – 16.00 Partner support stands – Young ambassadors escort delegates downstairs. Opportunity for the delegates and general public to visit and meet with partners and employers in the basement and café area of City Hall.

  7. Purpose of the Sessions • Setting the Scene - Patrick Dempsey / Kit Malthouse / Boris Johnson • PD Inspire the audience with his career story and the purpose for starting the BHC. Explain the history of the BHC and launch our 20th event, celebrate our 35K pledges so far and success. Why we are continuing the initiative and the importance for our sector and the impact on UK PLC. • Kit / Boris position the impact the hospitality sector his having on London’s economy growth with a real focus on restaurants & food services. Discuss the importance of creating apprentices / work experience / Youth employment and how London still has a long way to go in reducing the youth unemployment and training a skilled workforce in our sector. • Youth Employment - • Highlight the challenges & barriers young people face today in successfully finding employment, the impact this has on them socially, emotionally & financially. • Opportunity for the audience to hear their views on how we as a sector can do more to help them. • We will have 2 currently unemployed young people and 2 recently employed young people to balance the positive impact it has to end the session on a positive note. • Work Experience – • A panel to demonstrate how successful work experience can be for both the individual and organisation. We Interview 3 employers and 3 young people who have successfully completed work experience in their business • Articulate the importance a well structured and meaningful placement has for both a young person and employer. Outline how this also helps our sector to stand out as an industry with diverse career opportunities including marketing, finance, PR, IT that are changing old perceptions... • Apprentices – • The impact & benefits an apprentice programme has for employers and equally the benefits and career foundation it has on a young employees joining our sector. • Inspire the audience by listening to both employers & apprentices, whilst understanding on the different types of apprentices and providers are available.

  8. Purpose of the Sessions • Partnerships – • 3 young people interviewed and asked to tell their story of how they have been helped into a hospitality career by Springboard / DWP / NAS. This will bring our partnership support to life from the employees perspective showcasing the successes. Each partner will stand up in the audience and be thanked for their contribution & support so far, we will inform the audience that our partners will be available to support them in the basement at our career stands from 1-4pm. • Networking Brunch & Big Conversation– London living room • 15 minutes to move from the chamber up to the London living room, grab refreshment and network & make a pledge. • For approx 40 minutes a rare opportunity to bring together business leaders & young people to discuss how they feel after listening to the mornings event. They will now understand the importance and difference a pledge can make to their business and young lives whilst also inspiring each other to take action by converting that pledge into a reality with the support of the BHC & partners. • A challenging set up due to nature of the location, however we will organise 6 poser table ‘ stations’ with approx 30 delegates on each standing and having a conversation together.

  9. London City Hall Exterior • Set up & rehearsal access from 7.30am • All Guests to arrive from 9 - 9.15am. • We are unable to have teams outside or put anything on the outside of the building, however we could to stick vinyl's on the ground floor windows (Our message - ‘Fighting youth unemployment’ or similar.. ) our BHC Ambassadors will be waiting inside to welcome all the guests.. • Our registration area set up on the ground floor with BHC Ambassadors (wearing branded uniforms with a BHC sash) welcoming and leading all business delegates upstairs / young people into the chamber. • I-pads will be on hand to register any young people / delegates late to register. • All guest will be given their name badges • Our cut off is 180 delegates max due to floor 9 space restrictions. This does not include speakers & facilitators.

  10. Living room - Arrival • All business guests will be ushered from reception via the lifts to the 9th floor space for a welcome arrival & refreshments from 9.00am • Refreshments stations set up on each side of the entrance lobby. • This fantastic space boasts a huge balcony with stunning views that all guests can use. • Poseur tables will be set up, we could have our banner flags hanging from the ceiling or pop up banners (costs TBC). • Welcome music. • Young people will be briefed in the Mayor’s chamber at 9.30 for their briefing. • All other delegates led down at 9.45 allowing 15 mins for the lifts & journey

  11. Mayors Chamber • All young people will be here from 9am with refreshments • Presentations & Panels held here for the 180 delegates 10am - 11.45am • We will hold a briefing here first at 9.30 for the young people and ‘spread’ them out around the room. • BHC Ambassadors will seat all our business guests by 10am • We will begin at 10am promptly with music and VT

  12. Living Room • All guests will be ushered from the Chamber back up to the 9th Floor conference room at 12.05by BHC ambassadors. • A table plan will direct everyone to 1 of 6 high poseur tables set up in a line across the room. • A light brunch & refreshments will be served at the tables by young people (work experience & apprentices). • All delegates will have 40 minutes to listen, talk, network and make a pledge. • Pledges cards will be on the tables collected up after the event closes at 1pm.

  13. Basement Lobby • This public area will be set up by the BHC partners during the event. • Once the event closes at 13.00 and we will encourage all our guests & the general public to visit the stands for further support & advice until 16.00 • There is a café and seating for guests to relax, interview and any further networking post event.

  14. Opportunity to sponsor Event materials • Opportunity to launch and brand our materials for this event & the calendar of events ahead.. Balloons, goodie bags, and banners etc.
