  3. Use Machine Learning Techniques like HMM for Training • Input: Audio file • Output: The corresponding Text file

  4. Project 2: Handwriting Recognition • Off-line handwriting recognition involves the automatic conversion of text in an image into letter codes which are usable within text-processing applications.

  5. Steps involved in handwriting recognition • Input: Image file with handwritten text • Output: The corresponding Text file

  6. Project 3: Text to Speech (for the Intervention Phase) • A text-to-speech (TTS) system converts normal language text into speech

  7. TTS Procedure in brief • The linguistic analysis phase uses a large collection of human spoken language samples • Input: Text file • Output: The corresponding Audio file

  8. Project 4: Picture Story Generator (for the Intervention Phase) • Given a text-based story, generate a picture story! • Input: A short Story in text • Output: The corresponding picture story

  10. Project 5: Story Creator (for the Intervention Phase) • Given a text database of existing short kids stories, generate new stories by merging existing snippets • Using data-mining, ML, semantic analysis and related techniques

  11. Project 6: Video Annotation/Search (for the Intervention Phase) • Given a video database, annotate the videos with relevant keywords (e.g, the test-taker is fidgety/calm/etc) • Search for videos using the associated keywords/tags • Involves feature extraction and ML

  12. Project 7: Image and animation Clip Collector (for the Intervention Phase) • Given a text story, pull relevant images/animation clips from the Web depending on the main characters and the story line
