My Process Project Mobile, Web and Game Design By Simon Owens
Introduction From black and white films like Casablanca to Avatar 3-D, the visual world has evolved substantially into the billion dollar industry.
The early years... • The first working television set was first created by a Scottish inventor called John Logie Baird in 1924/1925. • In 1928, John Logie Baird transmitted moving images using phone lines from Glasgow to London. He did this using the company he created called the Baird Television Development Company Ltd.
Modern advancements • 80.5% of houses in the U.K have a television. • From black and white televisions to standard definition colour, to High Definition and 3-D, television has well and truly taken over. • High Definition television has 1-2 million pixels per frame. This is 5 times the amount of SD (standard definition) • HDTV has been in progress since 1936 as the technology is ever evolving. • Even now a replacement for HD is being trialled publicly. 3-D is being used more and more with films such as Avatar and Final Destination. • Even 3-D was given a trial for live TV. In major cities all over the country, the Arsenal vs. Manchester United match as screened live in 3-D
Already using HD, 3-D is the next logical step in gaming. • XBOX 360 and PS3 both have HDMI capabilities which gives the player a better experience with high quality graphics. This also allows games to portray better story lines that involves the player more. • A form of 2-D has been around for a while in games as you can tell, games do not look like Doom or Tetras anymore. However the next gen 3-D that we see in films will be fully accessible to all gamers and TV viewers in my opinion.
I had the idea of taking the modern day 3-D experience and integrating it into a fully immersive environment for gamers. • A screen would take up the users full area of vision including their peripherals to make the user feel more interacted with the game. • The 3-D glasses appliance used for 3-D viewing would be used. • It is the next step in 21st century gaming.

Conclusion The process would consist of analysing all aspects of modern day entertainment quality and portraying this into a gaming environment. The trials of 3-D television is the first look at the next level in entertainment and in my opinion, integrating this into gaming would be far superior for the user.
Thank you for listening. Any questions?
