Independent and Dependent Variables Is it a Function? • X is the hours he works while y, is how much he makes in a year. The x is independent because, y=the amount of money he earns a year. While x= the hours he works. In conclusion the amount of money he makes (y) depends on how many hours he works (x). • Yes the problem is a function because the more x increases, the more y will increase. It also is a function because x doesn’t repeat.
Domain and Range Is the domain continuous or discrete • Domain: Domain is the x value. • Range: Range is the y value. • The domain = x ≥ 0 • The range = y ≥ 0 • The domain is continuous because, the more hours he puts in, the more money he earns.
