  1. Geometry Terminology (day 2) Objective: SWBAT identify basic geometric terminology (1.2) This means chapter 1, section 2 from your online textbook. Don’t forget there are also tutorial videos using your online textbook. **hw/hw log/Storybook/collect parent contact forms/workbook p.7 Homework (day 2): Worksheet (day 2) Bring in a piece of cardstock and “string” for STORYTIME Quiz: solving equations/radicals/factoring

  2. Chardes • Place terms on cards: Point, line, plane, space, collinear, coplanar, segment, ray , opposite rays, intersection • Have students come up with a movement to display terms. • “Act” out the term until someone figures it out.

  3. “Story Time……” • 3 Undefined Terms: Point, Line and Plane

  4. Geometry Vocabulary • Space- set of all points • Collinear- points on same line • Coplanar- pts on same plane • Segment- part of a line with 2 endpts and all pts in between

  5. Ray- part of a segment with one endpt extended in one direction • Opposite Rays- form a line same endpoint in opposite directions • Intersection-point that 2 geometric figures have in common What is the intersection of two lines? point (Hint: draw a picture) What is the intersection of two planes? Line How many points are on a line? infinite

  6. Class work: • Workbook p. 7 (1-17, 20, 21-22, 32, 34)

  7. How many Planes are there? • Name three points that are collinear. • Are points A, B, C, & D coplanar? Explain. • At what point do and intersect? 1. One 2. A, B and D 3. no 4. D

  8. How any planes are there? • Name three collinear points. • Are points G, A, B, & F coplanar? Explain • At what point do and intersect? 1. Four 2. D, G, B 3. no 4. no intersection

  9. Activity • Each student gets two cards • Label one Q and one R. • Hold the two card together and place a slit halfway through both cards. • Hold cards so that the slits matchup and slide them together. (Tape cards together) • Where the cards meet models a line. Draw the line and label two points C and D on the line.

  10. Activity Cont. • Draw point F on your model so that it lies in Q but not R. Can F lie on line DC? • Draw point G so that is lies in R but not Q. Can G lie on line DC? • If point H lies in both Q and R where would it lie? Draw it on your model. • Draw a sketch of your model on your paper. Label each thing appropriately.

  11. Homework questions 1-28 (Day 2)
