  1. Solving Force Problems • Draw free body diagrams • One for each object • Choose a coordinate system that simplifies problem • Each object can have a separate coordinate system • Set up force equations using free body diagrams • Identify any action-reaction pairs • Solve for the unknowns

  2. One force diagram per object = 2 diagrams • Select Frame of Reference aligned with slopes • Two directions, parallel and perpendicular, per object => 2 x 2 = 4 equations of motion

  5. Substitute values to get numerical answer • Since acceleration is negative, we guessed wrong and system moves to the right
