More than just books… The library today is a gathering place for: • Tutors and students, • Leisure clubs -Chess, Scrabble, Bridge, Stamp club • Cultural groups and events -writers group, book clubs, artists, films, author visits, etc. • Library Programs • Community meetings and programs
Library Use in 2012 +1,000,000! Annual Circulation = 280,953 items borrowed

Library Use Library Visits • 228,400 visits in person. 24,150 questions asked and answered • children’s, teen’s and adult research questions, • reading suggestions, • technological help.

Library Programs 9,701 people attended 711 library programs • children’s programs • teen programs • adult education • partnership programs • seniors’ programs • arts programs • cultural events All of the Library’s programs are free of charge. • presenters donate their time and expertise.

Survey HighlightsUser Satisfaction • 99% were satisfied with library services • 88% ranked the library as “ideal” or close to ideal • 11 % described it as “good”. • 96% were satisfied with the facility. • 91% found library staff friendly and helpful. • 87% believe the library is forward thinking and tries new things. • 65% believe that the library has improved in the last few years. • 34% believe that it is about the same.
Survey Highlights -Suggestions for Improvement 7% COMPUTERS/ INTERNET • More workstations, more updated equipment & programs, more computer classes, more time allowed. 6.8% LIBRARY SERVICES AND COLLECTIONS • No charge for nonresidents, reduced library fines, increased loan periods, more books, DVDs, CDs, eBooks. 5% PARKING • Better parking, free parking. 5% REFRESHMENTS • Vending machines, café,coffee etc. 11% OTHER (VARIOUS) • Better publicity, more visible in the community, more funding, more branches.

The library is a leader in developing essential literacy skills and provides lifelong learning opportunities for all of its residents in a variety of contemporary physical and digital environments that are welcoming, dynamic and inclusive.
