Welcome • It is an honor and a great pleasure to talk to all of you today at this "1st Conference of the Consortium of Business Schools in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Region” • It is so nice to see you all participants from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. • Before I forget, let me thank Drs. SundaramNataraja and Abdullah M. Aldakhil professors at the College of Business Administration, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for inviting me. • I want to also thank the Conference Organizing Committee for working tirelessly to put together this prestigious conference. • I hope you all will enjoy this conference.

What is ISI? • The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) was founded by Eugene Garfield in 1960 • It was acquired by Thomson Scientific & Healthcare in 1992, became known as Thomson ISI • It is now part of the Healthcare & Science business of Thomson Reuters • ISI maintains citation databases of academic journals • ISI publishes the annual Journal Citation Reports which list an impact factor for each of the journals that it tracks • ISI ranks journals based on the number of times an average article is cited during the previous two years • ISI also publishes a list of highly cited researchers
