Homework • Have parent/guardian sign syllabus or complete online survey– Due • Get notebook – due Tuesday • Get safety contract signed, Study for Safety Quiz – due Tuesday
Nature of Science Puzzle • Aspects of Science: Tentativeness, Creativity, Observation, Inference, Subjectivity, Empirically Based, Socially Culturally Embedded. • Scientific investigations begins with a QUESTION. • Explanations are developed from a combination of collected data and what is already known.
Can Demo & White-boarding • Each pair needs a WB, marker and washcloth. • DRAWING PICTURES, answer the following questions: 1. What is happening when the gas is turned on? 2. What is happening when there is a flame? 3. What is happening when the flame goes out? 4. What is happening at the end of the demo?
Safety: What-Not-To-Do Lab • Work with your table partner. • Look at the pictures, and use your knowledge of lab safety to determine what is wrong with the picture. • Record the problem and how it should be fixed to make that situation safe for the lab.

Syllabus Jigsaw • Get into groups (colors on desks), and go to your assigned lab table. • Assign group roles, and write them down on post-it. Turn in! • Read your section of the syllabus and record 5 important/main ideas (5 min) • Then every member of the group will share out what they learned. Record what they share.
