Electrophotographic Development and Transfer Station Update Week 2 Progress Report Ben Nguyen Dan Prosser Adam Regu la Steve Snyder Amar Mohamed
Project Description • Produce a LabView controlled, xerographical fixture that puts toner on paper. • The LabView user interface should contain graphical outputs from the fixture, as well as, controls for multiple inputs. • This project is a continuation of P09503. • Customer: • Marcos Esterman (RIT) • John Knapp (Xerox)
Device Description • Contains 5 subsystems • Charging Station: Applies a uniform charge to the photoreceptor • Exposure Station: Shines light on the photoreceptor to remove charge from the imaged area • Development Station: Applies charged toner particles to the photoreceptor • Pre-Transfer Erase Station: Reduces photoreceptor charge to uniform value • Transfer Station: Transfer toner from photoreceptor to paper
Customer Needs • Need 1 Must be operational • 1.1 Put toner on paper • 1.1-1 All subsystems functional • 1.1-2 Further optimization of subsystems • 1.2 Able to be used for educational purposes • 1.2-1 Also possibility for R&D • Need 2 Safety • 2.1 Voltages, etc. • 2.2 Safety measure for stepping motor • 2.2-1 Make sure velocity is controlled • 2.2-2 Put in LabView/physical stopgaps to protect from improper operator input • Need 3 Interface • 3.1 Voltages/Velocities, etc. controllable by VI front panel • 3.2 Certain metrics should be plotted and monitored
Project Manager: Lam Nguyen, Jr. (Ben) • Meeting Time: weekly Monday 8pm-10pm • Roles • Ben: Interface Design, Safety • Dan: Controls, Mechanical Testing • Steve: Controls, Back-End • Adam: Fixturing, Electromechanics • Amar: Wiring Expert, Safety • Jeff: LabView Expert (Master’s student) • Knowns • Issues the previous team had • The components that have already been completed • Goal of end product (teaching purposes, R&D) • General overview of the system operation • Unknowns • Plan of attack • Work breakdown structure • Technical knowledge • Subsystem team leads • Bill of materials
Look Ahead • No current issues with meeting deliverables • Future Plans • Risk identification • Begin investigating operation of current machine • Determine need for new equipment (BoM) • Determine subsystem team leads • Quantify scope of work • Develop plan-of-attack • Confirm/clarify customer needs
