An au-pair is a single boy/girl aged between 17-27 who is able to stay in England for up to 2 years. He/she will stay and function as part of a family, having meals and joining in on family activities etc. A position with the family will includes free board and room which should be kept tidy at all times.

Family Information General: An Au-Pair placement is a single male/female aged between 17-27 who wishes to come to the UK to study English. Position: There are 3 positions Au Pair = 25 hours from £70 per week, Au Pair plus up to 30 hours = from £85 per week, and mothers Help from 40 hours from £120 per week. Travel: The Au-Pair is responsible for his/her travel. We would expect the family to collect the Au-Pair on their arrival or make alternative arrangements. Hours: The Au-Pair will work approximately 5 hours daily on a 5 hour basis; a maximum of 25 hours per week with up to 2 evenings babysitting and should be entitled to 2 Saturday nights free per month. Duties: Typical duties will include housework, general childcare and domestic pet care. Board: A position with the family will include free board and room which the Au-Pair is expected to keep tidy. Free time: The Au-Pair should have at least 1 full day + Sunday and usually Saturday off, plus time for their studies. Health care: If the Au-Pair registers with a local NHS doctor then healthcare is free. Holidays: A period of 2 weeks paid holiday plus bank holidays should be given for every 6 months completed at the host’s residence. Visa: Some applicants that live outside the EEC will require a work permit, for example Bulgaria and Romania .

Hours: Approximately 5 hours daily on a 5 day basis is worked; a maximum of 25 hours per week with 2 or 3 evenings babysitting. Duties: Typical duties will include housework, preparing meals for the children, collection from school and general childcare. Free time: You will have at least 1 full day off per week + Sunday and usually Saturday off for studies. Phone: Phone calls must only be made with permission unless you make prior arrangements for payment. Smoking: Most families object to smoking, especially around the child/children. General: If you are unhappy about something talk to the family. School: You should have at least a basic knowledge of English. Most au-pairs attend language classes about twice a week. Travel: You are responsible for your own fare to and from home. Invitation: The Agency will contact you when placement with a family has been found.

L.A.P. (Larah Au-Pairs) fees must be paid in full with the family letter of invitation at least 21 days before arrival. Without this payment the au-pair cannot travel. • Late payments are subjected to a £50 penalty plus interest at 6% above Bank of England base rate of the accumulated outstanding fee per month. • If invoice remains unpaid, L.A.P. will instruct a debt collection agency and the client will be responsible for all ancillary costs. • There is also a minimum charge of £50 on cheques returned by bankers plus £20 administration charge.
