Types of affixation: There are three types of affixation, suffix, prefix, infix and circumfix. prefix is " affixes which attach to the left or front of a base For example; Unhappy: UN: prefix Happy: root
suffix is affix which attach to the right or end of a base. For example: Happiness (N)
Here in this type of affixes it changes the class of the word depending on the suffix added. For example: *Suffixes forming nouns : (1) Nouns from nouns, ) -dom form uncountable nouns, abstract. there are some words such as: fagdom, dollardom. Also, the suffix –ess as in astronautess and seeress, and –iana as in etoniana form nouns.
