RMC PRIORITIES FOR REVISION OF PUBLICATION - STATUS • TMH1 – in process • TMH on surveillance methods • phase 1 ( Road roughness) completed - part of TRH6, • seminar in July 2007 • phase 2 to be completed in 2008 by MAS • TRH12 – in draft • TRH14 – waiting for funds • TRH4 – work proposals prepared PRAC, SANRAL

  3. RMC PRIORITIES FOR REVISION OF PUBLICATION - STATUS • TRH20 – final stage of appointment by DOT • TMH8 & TMH16 – part of revision of design method • TMH 12 – published on SANRAL website • TMH9 – no funding • TRH 22 -no funding

  4. COTO Road MaterialsCommittee (RMC) Goals To coordinate and guide SA development in terms of: • road building materials, • pavement design, • road network management, • pavement construction, maintenance and rehabilitation

  5. COTO RMC Goals: • Facilitate technology transfer amongst road authorities • Collate state of the art technology and practice • Develop national standards • Produce / revise relevant TRH and TMH

  6. COTO RMC RMC chair person: Elzbieta Sadzik Two sub-committees: • Materials testing – M. Henderson (Chair) • Roads Network Management Systems (RNMS) – M. Henderson (Chair)

  7. COTO RMC Last RMC meeting – 24 October 2007 Issues • Shortage of experience staff within road authorities • Shortage of funds Conclusion • RMC cannot fulfill its functions • New structure needed • Closer cooperation with Metros and private sector • Suggest RPF task group to discuss the above
