  4. Johnson After Kennedy’s death Johnson took over Won the election of 1965 Revised the original Insurance plan Worked with other people to get the bill passed.

  5. Passing the Medicare Bill First bill to be put into action Members of the HEW, Department of Health, Education, and Welfare helped Johnson. Wilbur Cohen – great negotiator with Congress Multiple presidents tried to pass a law but failed. Johnson passed the first health insurance law and Truman was the first to receive it.

  6. Medicare Provided funding for medical costs for the elderly Includes anyone 65 and over Coverage for prescription drugs, hospitalization, and other treatments.

  7. Kerri-mills legislation Johnson and Wilbur used this to create the Medicaid Bill. They revised this theory to fund low income families. “Aid to the Blind, Aid to the permanently and totally disabled, and aid to families with dependent children”

Conclusion Johnson had a great impact on the health of America The Social Security Insurance Plan was one of the greatest parts of the Great Society These plans are still in effect today Medical advances have come a long way Without the government funding plans he set up, the medical issues people have would go untreated and the population may have been full of diseases
