Chp. 1 Summary • This chapter is pretty dull. It just talks about how we were to the Middle east. • Because of the cold war, we wanted to have some control in the middle east. It would give us a foot hold near Russia and give us the oil it had as well.
Chp. 2 Summary • Soon we started to see Iraq as a threat once the cold war ended. We figured if we got the government in Iraq to become a democracy it would not be a threat. We tried forcing it upon them, and we failed. • This chapter focused on the time Bush was president. • Bush believed that in order to change Iraq, he had too increase the troops and force Iraq into a democracy. Of course this did not work out for the best.
Chapter 3 • Ch.3 tends to focus on Obama’s policies regarding the Middle East in General • Hands off approach • Lead by example http://brettzieglerphotography.com/blog/?category_name=assignments http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Asia-South-Central/2012/0502/Obama-s-agreement-with-Karzai-in-Afghanistan-short-on-specifics-video
Chapter 4 • Ch. 4 deals mostly with President Obama’s stance on the recent disputes between Palestine and Israel • Israel continues to build on Palestinian Soil • President Obama too weak on Israel? http://mondoweiss.net/2012/02/netanyahu-seeks-iran-conflict-extremist-reaction-to-knock-out-obama.html http://www.conservapedia.com/Mahmoud_Abbas
