WP7 Communication

WP7 Objective and Structure • Objective: to ensure that: • the results of the study will be duly communicated to major actors and stake-holders involved in the transition process • these results and methodology have been confronted to the scientific community • Task 7.1 : identification and choice of the audiences, data base • Task 7.2 : set-up communication channels • Task 7.3 : interactive communication • Task 7.4 : final international conference

WP7 Management • Enerdata (2 mm): leader of the Work Package: • Leader of tasks 7.2, 7.3 and 7.4 • Set up communication tools: logo, reporting formats, WEB site, forum • LSC(2 mm): strong involvement in the work package • Leader of task 7.1 • involved in all tasks • Other partners: no specific involvement but: • all partners facilitate task 7.1 (identification of contact persons) and contribute to task 7.2 (deliverables, articles in scientific reviews,…) and 7.3 (interactive communication with actors and stake-holders) • UP makes adequate linkages for task 7.3 (education system)

Task 7.1 : Objective, methodology & deliverable • Objective: identify the audience with which PACT should communicate, and set-up a database • Methodology: the audience and database will encompass two groups • Actors and stake-holders in Europe likely to play a significant role in the transition process: • Policy makers: the European Commission, the European Parliament, Member States Enterprises of the energy sector (both private and public); • Representatives of the public:Massmedia (newspapers scientific services; tv scientific programmes, etc.), European networks and associations, NGOs • Scientific communities relevant to the project • Deliverable • Dl7.1 database on actors, stake-holders and scientific counterparts for communication purposes, restricted to the consortium members and sponsors (month 6)

Task 7.1 : Implementation • Step1: identification of the audience (M1 to M2) • Actors and stakeholders • Scientific community. • Step2: single out (within each type) the individual receivers of information inputs (M3 to M5). • consultation with contact points within the EC and snowballing (that is, asking to already known people to suggest other contacts). • analysis of directories and European web-sites in order to single out the relevant policy makers and other representatives of European level associations (e.g. trade unions, NGOs, industrialists associations); • institutions that carried out projects connected to the energy issue within 5FP and 6FP as well as on behalf of DG TREN; • use of data made available by the consortium members • Step3 : design and develop the database of contact points (M3 to M6) • Set-up the database format. • Develop the database • Input data

Task 7.2 : Objective, methodology and deliverables • Objective:make available to the targeted audience(s) public project’s outputs and, particularly, its main deliverables • Methodology: • Step1: set up a project web-site from where the content of the project and the public Deliverables could be downloadable from it • Step2: inform all the individuals listed in the database, through the e-mail, of the availability of the document as soon as it is delivered • Step3: submit to specialized scientific reviews articles based on the project’s result • Deliverables: • D7.2 Project Web-site (month 6), open to public

Task 7.2 : Implementation • Step1: Web site (M1 to M6) • Design the terms of reference of the WEB Site: ergonomy, presentation, functionalities; • Develop the WEB Site and populate with initial information • Test and opening to the public • Step2: Inform (M7 to M36) • Inform selected contatc points of the database of the release of deliverables • Propose a forum platform for exchange on deliverables. • Step3: Publication (M18 to M36) • Identify scientific reviews likely to be interested by PACT thematics • Mobilize PACT partners to publish.

Task 7.3 : Objective and methodology • Objective: to develop interactive communication with the targetted audience, and with the education system • Methodology: Interactive situation could be the following (the list is not exhaustive): • Interactions with actors and stake-holders and the scientific community - invitations to participate in the scenario workshop (see task 61.3); - collection of email sent to the web-site and their management (sending replies to questions from the web-site readers); • Interactions with school teachers on the issue of a school and social educational model aiming at changing the contemporary culture before future scenarios typical of the post carbon society will materialize: • - Which contemporary values can be better projected into the PCS? • - What are the priorities which today come out in the youth culture as a result of our survey? • - How can young people seek a change in the organization of their everyday life more consistent with the PCS?

Task 7.3 : Implementation • Interactions with actors and stake-holders (M7 to M36) • Adaptation of the WEB Site to foster interactions (forum?) • Take actions to sensibilize actors and stake-holders. • Interactions with education system (M19 to M36) • Follow-up of task 4.3 “Young People’s Human Capital and Social Capital in a Post Carbon Social Life” • Associate teachers to the formalization of transition scenarios

Task 7.4 : Objective and methodology • Objective: to organize an international conference at the end of the project for communication and awareness purposes • Methodology: The following audience is targetted: • The key actors and stake-holders which were invited to the scenario workshop • Representatives of the scientific community which will have proved to have been active in the discussion on methodology and results of the project • the teachers who represent the schools where the research has been carried out • Implementation : The conferencewillbeholdat M36
