2. A Cadet’s time away from home will get them…. • A safe, supervised leadership school environment • 3 FULL meals a day • A shared bedroom with a 2 beds, 2 desks and 2 closets • A shared bathroom with no more than 2 other cadets • Interaction with other schools’ JROTC personnel • Half a credit hour towards graduation

MISSION STATEMENT • The mission of AFJROTC is to develop leadership; promote logical thinking while communicating and cooperating effectively with others; promote the importance of physical fitness and good nutrition; and instill ethical values and principles that are the foundations of good citizenship.  

4. VISION STATMENT • The vision of Clayton County’s AFJROTC Summer Leadership School is to instill and empower the shared belief in the Air Force Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence In All We Do. • Have your child drink plenty water

5. Who, When and Where? • 180AFJROTC cadets from Clayton County • 12 Clayton County instructors (male & female) present at all times • Six (6) training days at Clayton State University (CCU) in Morrow, GA. • Training dates : 2 June through 7 June 2012 • Clayton State University facilities to include dining and living quarters (Laker Hall) • Have your child drink plenty water

6. Cadets will: • Report to TARA Stadium (home-side parking lot) between 0700 and 0720 hours on the 2nd of June for transportation to CCU • Bring enough clothing to last the entire six days without having to wash clothes • Bring about $10 to $25 to cover incidentals • Buses will return to TARA Stadium at 12pm on 7 June • NO CELL PHONES OR ELECTRONIC DEVICES • Have your child drink plenty water

7. Eighty plus (80+) hours of instruction and training • Physical activities include calisthenics and one mile run each morning, volleyball, fitness competition, etc. • Failure to participate in physical activities my result in disciplinary action and/or failure to graduate. • Military drill and ceremony training • Leadership academics and motivational seminars • General military training: • Room preparation, personal grooming, formation leadership, situational leadership and inspection preparation. • Development of interpersonal skills in a military environment • Have your child drink plenty water

8. Rules, Policies, and Procedures • Obey all rules and orders/instructions of those serving in an instructional or supervisory capacity • Failure to comply may result in demerits, disciplinary action, no credit for SLS, expulsion from SLS, and/or expulsion from the overall JROTC program. • All medical conditions affecting the cadets must be disclosed to the cadet’s instructor who will release information as needed if a situation should arise • Doctor prescribed medications should be properly labeled and turned in to designated JROTC personnel upon arrival at CSU • Have your child drink plenty water

9. Rules, Policies, and Procedures • The commander approval is required if a cadet expects to have a visitor. • If an emergency arises cadet will follow procedures to obtain permission to use telephones. (Operations) • Cadets will not enter the rooms of cadets of the opposite sex . Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, no credit for SLS, and expulsion from SLS and the JROTC program • Male cadets must arrive with their hair cut to meet military standards for the entire six (6) days. • Individual evaluations will range from the proper wearing of the uniform to academic achievements and athletic performances. • Have your child drink plenty water

10. Cadet expulsion • If your cadet is eliminated from CCCLS for disciplinary reasons or failure to comply with rules and established procedures it may result in disciplinary action, no credit for SLS, and expulsion from the JROTC program. Parents will also be responsible for picking up their student on the same day prior to 6:pm. • Have your child drink plenty water

11. Dormitory Room Standards The President of Clayton State University has graciously allowed the use of the Laker Hall dormitory and other CSU facilities for Clayton County Cadet Leadership School. Therefore, the protection and maintenance of these resources is the responsibility of all personnel participating in CCCLS Have your child drink plenty water

12. Dormitory Room Standards • Room door will be closed and locked between the hours of 10:pm. and 5:55 am • Hallways and common areas will be electronically monitored 24/7 to ensure compliance • CSU/Personal TVs, computers, telephones, radios, CD players, IPods, and MP3s (etc.) will not be used by cadets. Failure to comply may result in demerits, disciplinary action, no credit for CLS, expulsion, and/or expulsion from the JROTC program • Unauthorized cadet items will be confiscated • Individual closet door may be padlocked after the AM room inspection • Have your child drink plenty water

13. Family Emergency • Cadets can be reached thru the CSU Campus Police at (678) 466-4050 and instructor cell phones whose numbers will be provided. • Have your child drink plenty water

14. Summary This is an opportunity for your cadet to gain valuable insights into leadership and group dynamics in a military environment. Those that excel will be the future leaders of their Cadet Corps. Have your child drink plenty water
