Purpose • Objective: Motivate JROTC cadets to lead active, healthy lifestyles beyond program requirements and into their adult lives. • Goals: • Create individualized training program based on national standards by age and gender • Identify areas of improvements for each cadet • Incorporate physical training program to reach goals
Program • The E2C Program is an exercise program developed around individual base line improvements with the focus of achieving a national standard as calculated with age and gender • The 36-week program is modifiable to meet individual goals. Personal improvement is awarded
Program • Exercises work all muscle groups and provide sufficient anaerobic and aerobic intensity • Requires no equipment – 19 exercises use only body weight and common objects (e.g. chairs) • Exercises can be conducted with minimal space • Minimal climate dependency – (the 1-mile run)
Program • The 36-Week Personal Wellness Program is comprised of 20 exercises: • V-Sit Reach, Bent-Knee Push-ups, Push-ups, Feet Elevated Push-ups, AFJROTC Push-ups, Plank, Left Arm and Right Arm Planks, Sit-ups, Extended Sit Ups, Flutter Kicks, Lunges, Arm Extended Lunges, Reverse Extended Lunges, Mountain Climbers, AFJROTC Squats, Body Builders, Squat Leaps, Side Lateral Jumps and the 1 mile run
Program • Until E2C is incorporated into Cyber Campus units will use the stand alone Access database • Each student will take a diagnostic test, performing all 19 exercises • This can be performed over several days or a few weeks based on class schedules • Once scores are entered into the database, a 36-week work-out routine will be generated • The routine will be based on the individual’s baseline, age and gender
Program • A typical class may go as follows: • Warm-up/Stretch • Pick 6 or more exercises to perform depending on time • Ensure proper form and technique • Students will strive to complete the number of repetitions indicated on their personal workout plan • Cool-down/Stretch • During the next class period, students will perform 6 different exercises
Safety/Liability • First Aid/CPR • Instructors required to have American Red Cross First Aid / CPR, or American Heart Association CPR • AFJROTC will fund biannual certification • Obtain certification and keep in unit files for inspection • Permission Slips • A Parent/Guardian will sign letter of understanding of wellness program requirements and state any known health concerns or limitations on the consent form. • Students and instructors must follow school district policy for physical and extracurricular activity
Safety/Liability • It is vital that all documentation be tracked and filed. • Once developed, the E2C Cyber program will track parent consent slips and CPR training • The database contains full descriptions of several stretches and warm-up exercises. • Instructors need to ensure students spend at least 5 minutes warming up. • We understand time restrictions, but health and safety are paramount. • Make sure students stay hydrated even with indoor activities. • School leadership will be made aware of the program through area briefings and/or through a AFJROTC Director’s introductory letter.
Evaluation • Individual Evaluation • Instructor should base grades on individual improvement, participation and effort • Cadets should not be graded on scores alone • Unit Evaluation - Inspectable items include: • 100% instructor CPR / First Aid certification on file • 100% parent letters signed (those not participating must be accounted for in writing)
Evaluation • Performance Assessment • Comprised of 6 events: 1 mile run, sit-ups, lunge, plank, push-ups, and flexibility • Units conduct assessment at least twice • Initial assessment establishes baseline and goals • Final assessment determines individual improvement
