QCD estimate for Z->ττ(like sign) • Exact same cuts as Z->ττ CR except like sign • Data: 335(570 ipb) • Data-MC (QCD estimate) = 24.8 • MC: • Z->ττ: 64.0 • Z->μμ: 73.8 • tt: 0.4 • W->lυ: 172.0
W->lυ + Jets CR • Data: 4790 (570 ipb) • Data-Bkg_MC= 4180.0 • SF_Wjets = 0.68 • MC purity: 90.9% • MC: • Z->ττ: 63.7 • Z->μμ: 508.4 • tt: 37.9 • W->lυ: 6110.0
Z->ττ • N_Z->ττ = N_Z->ττ_data – N_Z->μμ_MC – N_tt_MC – N_W->lυ – N_QCD_estimate = 564.9 • ε_allcuts_Z->ττ_MC = ε_skim_Z->ττ_MC x ε_analysis_Z->ττ_MC = 0.076 x 0.0072 = 0.0054 • Of course, we will improve these numbers with data!

QCD estimate for Z->μμ (like sign) • Exact same cuts as Z->μμCR except like sign • Data: 476 (570 ipb) • Data-MC (QCD estimate) = 127.3 • MC: • Z->ττ: 5.6 • Z->μμ: 57.9 • tt: 161.3 • W->lυ: 123.9
Z->μμ • N_Z->μμ = N_Z->μμ_data – N_Z->ττ_MC – N_tt_MC – N_W->lυ – N_QCD_estimate = 180967.6 • ε_allcuts_Z->μμ_MC = ε_skim_Z->μμ_MCx ε_analysis_Z->μμ_MC= 0.58 x 0.29 = 0.17 • Of course, we will improve these numbers with data!
A Couple Comments • Freddy – Thanks for NLO cross sections!!! • Can subtract backgrounds with MC as a first step… then we can start to do a more rigorous job with backgrounds. • Next Step WJets and PU reweighing • Starting to come together, but LONG road ahead!
