Mediation With Students
Mediation • Mediation is a new programme by cool schools to help kids resolve their non-physical problems in the playground with other kids. • The Mediators are year 7&8 students who have learnt how to resolve conflict peacefully and have now taken up the role to help other students with their problems.
The Rules Of Mediation The Four Rules There are four rules of Mediation that the disputants must agree to before we help them solve their conflict. They are: • Be Honest • No put-downs • No interrupting- you'll each get a turn • Agree to solve the problem together
Mediation Station The Mediation Station is where pupils can go to get help to solve their problems with the Mediators. There are two Mediators at the station during interval and lunch time and there are also two Mediators wandering around to make sure there are no problems forming. Here is a photo of what the Mediation station looks like. It is stationed outside the hall.
Mediation Uniform For our mediation uniforms we received bright yellow jackets, blue\green rubber bracelets that say “peace” and “rangimare” on them, as well as purple badges.
The Mediators Our current Mediators are: Shivaun, Pippa, Paula, Lily, Polly, Anu, Sophie, Lucy, Maia-May, Anoushka, Maria, Harriet and Conor. If you are experiencing a conflict and you see any of these people wearing a Mediation Vest we encourage you to come forth and let us help you solve your problem without using violence or explicit language.
Thank You Thank You for watching and listening, and hopefully we have helped educate you on Mediation. If you ever have any problems in the play ground please do not hesitate to come and see a Mediator to solve your problem the right way. By Shivaun and Pippa- da koolkidz of da school
