Although I'm not a curator I’ve been benefited by this programme
I spent most of my time at the British Museum in Ancient Egypt and Sudan Department. • The remainder of my time was spent on sessions with the whole group. • Sessions were a mixture of presentations, visits to galleries, storerooms, external exhibitions and other museums, but also practical sessions and seminars.
More focus on: • Exhibitions and galleries planning and delivery. • Collections management. • Conservation and storage areas. • Education programmes and children activities. • Development of research projects. • Developing museum buildings. • Museums and communities. • fundraising and commercial activities.
Visits to other institutions and museums • Pitrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology. • Horniman Museum. • The Griffith Institute Archive. • Pitt-Rives Museum. • Fitzwilliam Museum. • McDonals Institute for Archaeological Research. • Kinwood House. • The British Library. • The Natural History Museum
10 days at The Collection of Lincoln It was a good opportunity to see the strong links to local histories, and how the local museum is running and simply managed.
