ELA Agenda – Thursday 04/24 • Objective: • Students will explore theelements of fiction through hearing and discussing fiction stories. • Students will learn how to write engaging stories. • Work on Analogies activity WS (10 mins) • Get a laptop and log on • Go to www.readtheory.org and log in using the following: • Username: first initial last name or first initial last name ms2tc (all lowercase & no spaces) • Password: section6a or section6d • Complete the critical thinking quiz after you log in; this is for diagnostic reasons so try your best but do not stress out • Read your assigned reading passage and complete the quiz for that reading passage • When complete, log off, put away laptop and read or write silently • Mini conferences with Mrs. Duddles while class works on critical thinking quiz (30 mins)

What does he say or do in the story that makes you think that? • What is his problem in this story? How does he solve it? What does that say about his personality? • Independent writing (30 mins) • Write a brief essay about the character of Zyphilb4b Xebloom. Describe what he is like and how his personality helps him solve his problem in this story. Use examples from the story to support your ideas. • Essay is due on Monday, 04/28. You may type or write neatly on lined paper.

Create a character/plot/setting chart for one of the fiction stories that you have written or started. • Independent writing time: (30 mins) • Work on a story you started earlier. • Start a new story. • Think about character, setting, and plot. Choose one of the three elements (character, setting, or plot) that you will focus on during writing today.

You will need to divide the unfinished work equally within your group. Due by Monday 05/12!
