Technology Acceptable Usage Policy • Access to electronic media is a privilege for students, staff, and the community. • Teachers are required to supervise the use of electronic media by students. • Employees shall not use a code, access a file, or retrieve any stored communication unless they have been given authorization to do so. • Technology resources (including email) should be used to promote student learning and communication with the home. • Blogs may only be set up following District guidelines (see Allen Martin). • Staff members are discouraged from creating personal social networking sites to which they invite students to be friends. Employees taking such action do so at their own risk.

  3. Technology Acceptable Usage Policy • Those who refuse to sign the AUP documents or who violate district rules governing the use of technology shall be subject to loss or restriction of the privilege of using the equipment. • Those violating the policy and acceptable use rules shall be subject to disciplinary actions which could include termination. • Individuals shall reimburse the Board for repair or replacement of District property lost, stolen, damaged or vandalized while under their care.

  4. Technology Usage DO’S DON’TS Treat the content of the email you send as if it were posted on a bill board that anyone could read. Use the phone or meet directly with a parent when having lengthy and significant conversations. Consider that educators are professionals and posting unprofessional postings and pictures on social media is a bad reflection on you, the school, the district, and the profession. Use technology for personal business. Use personal cell phones in class or school when students are present.
