  15. The Trustee Board • 5 Elected Sabbatical Officers • 4 appointed Northumbria students • 4 appointed externals Aim:To achieve the right balance of skill and experience to oversee the Unions finances, legal and reputational issues

  16. Role of Trustees • Create and deliver the Students’ Union’s Business Plan • Set Budgets • Ensure the Students’ Union is legally compliant • Protect the reputation of the Students’ Union

Trustees Report 2010-11 Key Achievements • 1000+ Course Reps recruited and over 275 trained • 130 students attended Rep Conference • Established Post Graduate Taught Reps • 3000+ students involved in Societies, Community Volunteering, RAG, Welcome Team and Give it a Go • £17,000 raised for RAG charities

Trustees Report 2010-11 More Key Achievements • 3295 votes in the Elections 2010 • An Award Winning Year: • NUS Community Relations Award Winner • Runner Up for Students’ Union of the Year • Runner Up in North East Business Awards ‘Environment and Community Award’ • NUSSL Best Bar None Accreditation • Newcastle City Council Bronze Award for Club Venue of the Year • Sound Impact Silver Award

Trustees Report 2010-11 More Key Achievements • 2000+ volunteers registered in Student Activities • 2 Community Volunteers recognised for their work: • KirstyMcDine – VinspiredGenuis Award Regional Winner • Claire Sedgewick – Vinspired Bridge Award National Winner • Delivered positive changes for students in the University including Library Easter Opening

  20. Trustees Report 2010-11 More Key Achievements • Secured an increase in Block Grant • Successfully registered as a charity • Completed major refurbishment of Students’ Union building and ensured opening for Welcome 2010
