The Soviet Union -1930s Led by Joseph Stalin He established totalitarianism: A political system where the government controls every part of its citizens lives 2 ways that he moved the USSR toward totalitarianism: 1. He called for rapid industrialization 2. He forced farmers and peasants to give up their land and work on collectives He ruled with an Iron Fist

Germany 1932 – The Nazi or National Socialist Party wins the national elections The Nazi Party is led by… Adolf Hitler He ruled under a fascist state and used intimidation and fear to get what he wanted He blamed Communists and Jews for Germany’s loss in WWI. As a result he began to strip Jews of their civil rights.
