  3. ORGANIZATION MEMBERS

  4. FORMATION • Formed after the Second World War in 1956 • In responseto the European refugee crises caused by the Sovietinvasion of Hungary

  5. WHERE • Working in more than 30 countries around the world • Workingto ensure that no refugee must be in need of help to find protection and durable solutions

  6. FOR WHOM? • Provides direct assistance to conflict-affected populations, internally displaced people(IDPs) • Advocates their rights internationally based on the Human Rights Declaration • Collects information that can assist IDPs

  7. ACTIVITIES • Housing and small-scale infrastructure • Income generation through grant and micro-finance • Food security & agricultural rehabilitation and development

  10. OBJECTIVES • Alleviate suffering and promote dignity and rights of civilians in crisis situations • Build resilience and prevent future crisis by breaking in the cycle between crisis and vulnerability

  11. DIASPORAPROGRAMME • Administering a fund that Somali and Afghan diaspora organizations in Denmark • Buildingevidence-based knowledge of the comparative value of diaspora engagement in development

  12. THE GREAT LAKES CIVIL SOCIETY PROJECT • Proposingrealistic policy solutions to conflict and displacement • Drawing on existing legal and political frameworks for the protection of refugees and IDPs
