SHERIFF • The Sheriff is the only law enforcement authority identified in the Holy Bible, in 600 BC the Chaldean King of Babylon was noted in the Book of Daniel as being in the company of the Sheriff
SHERIFF • Thomas Jefferson wrote in “The Value of Constitutions” that today’s Sheriff is essentially a direct descendant of the English Sheriff. • The Sheriff was brought to the united States because laws needed to be enforced
North Dakota Sheriff’s • NDCC 11-15-03 Duties of the Sheriff 1. Preserve the peace 2. Arrest and take before the nearest magistrate …all persons who attempt to commit or have committed a public offense
