Types of Support Services • Home care agencies & Home health agencies • Meals on wheels • Emergency response systems • Senior centers • Adult daycare • Respite • Hospice • Transportation • Support groups • VA aid and attendance program
Housing Options for Seniors • Independent living or retirement communities • Low-income senior apartment communities (HUD) • Assisted living communities • Personal care homes • Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) • Nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, long-term care facilities • Support services in senior’s home

Tie it Together and Be Ready • Gather all of your parent’s documentation in one place, including wills, banking information, list of medications, doctor’s information, etc. • Get a Power of Attorney in place. • Have a living will in place for your parents so you know their wishes. • Find out the local resource in the community in which they live. Contact the local area agency on aging (n4a.org for listings)
Tie it Together and Be Ready • Talk with your siblings or family members to make sure everyone is on the “same page.” • Contact Emory Worklife Resource Center or BrownRichards for resources and referrals. • TALK with your parents. An open line of communication is the best way to assist older adults!
