Core Functions There are three overarching core functions of the Training Council: • Leadership role in promoting training to industry, including partnerships between industry and the training sector • Supporting innovation and workforce development • Provide forward looking advice to State and Commonwealth Governments on training needs and priorities for public funding.

  3. Our Coverage • FutureNow is the Industry Training Council for the following industry sectors in Western Australia: • Arts & Culture • Sport & Recreation • Hospitality • Tourism • Information • Media • Telecommunications • Printing

  4. VET in Schools – State Initiative The proportion of VET in schools in key priority industry areas will increase from 23% of enrolments to 40% by 2012. This is an increase in the proportion of VET in schools from 2008 including enrolments from all funding sources. Source:Training WA-Planning for the Future 2009-2018.

  5. FutureNow VET in Schools Focus Review and analyse current VET in School delivery and develop appropriate implementation strategies to maximise Creative and Leisure industries share of Government targets. • Act on outcomes from the current review of VET in Schools. • Identify, review and analyse existing delivery and outcomes data. • Target new and underutilised industry areas.

  6. FutureNow VET in Schools Focus Identify and implement career promotion strategies and actions in identified industry sectors. • Career and training pathways • Development of resources for careers advisors and VET coordinators
