Regionalpark Emscher Landschaftspark • Planning tool of area focused regional management • Strategical enforcement and protection of open and green spaces • => multifunctional open space development • Legitimation: Masterplan 2010 • Management, maintenance and development task of the Regional Association Ruhr
Focus Urban Agriculture • 37% of the area in agricultural use • ca. 4.500 farms in the Metropole Ruhr • Therefrom ca. 300 full- and part-time farms in/at the ELP (Quelle Chamber of agriculture NRW 2012)

Conclusion for EU COST WG2 • Results for the case study: • No policies and legal strategies exists nor for UA (i.e.food supply) • Urban agriculture has to play an important role in park mangement • A lot of stakeholders, but little networking and cooperation between them • Top-down models, but few bottom-up processesand • Related topics- agriculture, city planning, social and education… • Further steps needed: • Further developement of models for sustainable land management • Further development of regional park management • In cooperation with partners design and realisation of projects • Stronger networking is needed i.e. between farmers and planners
