What is FOS? • The Friends of Scouting (FOS) is a fundraising campaign to help the council meet the needs of the operating budget. • FOS accounts for 29% of the operating budget. • In short, it helps the Council support the Scout!

2011 Operating Budget • $2.984 Million Income • Friends of Scouting = 29% ($840,000 *) • $448,000 Family Campaign • $300,000 Patron Dinner • $80,000 Community Friends • $9,000 Matching Gifts • $63,000 Direct Mail *$60,000 Pledge Loss
Mt. Diablo Silverado Council • Serving over 14,000 Youth in Contra Costa, Solano, Napa, Lake, and Northern Alameda counties. • Council budget is $2.984 million. • Friends of Scouting is $871,000 after adjustments. • Average Cost of Scouting per Youth is $185.
The Pledge Card • Support one or more Scouts with a check or Credit Card gift of $185 or more. • Pledges of $25 or more can be taken and reminders mailed. • Return your card now, WITH your response. • Do not take the card home, or keep it. Please return your card tonight!
Donation Information • A donation of $500 or more receives an invitation to the Patron Event in May. • Your dollar can go the extra mile! • Does your company offer matching donations? Check with your Company’s Human Resource Representative and have them match your gift! www.bsa-mdsc.org/finances • Any amount helps! Please return your card tonight!
Things to Remember • The Council will send you a receipt. • Donations are tax deductible. • Keep the right side of the card, as your mini-receipt. • Any size donation helps the Council. • You don’t have to pay now, the Council can bill you at a later date. • Check, Cash, and Credit Cards are accepted.
