6XX magnetic measurements strategy for 2006. • Measurements outside SM18: • At room temperature with QIMM (ACCEL, TESLA,CERN) • At cold in Block 4 with long rotating coil for multipoles (MQMC, MQM,MQY). Correlation:Warm Cold Block 4 • Measurements in SM18 • MQY not measured in block 4 (Gdl for all) +few MQY already measured in block 4 (re-scale the abs.value of TF and checks of bn) • Gdl measurements on MQML to refine the w/c. • Relative variation with current for injection value and statistics for the spread, both measured in Block 4. • Magnets selected following the priority optics (list approved by the FQWG). Correlation:Warm Cold SM18+ cold data for MQY.
Magnetic measurements executed in SM18 (End august 06). 15 S4 measured from the list endorsed by FQWG in March 2006. • 10 MQY type, 3 MQM type, 1 MQML type. • Almost all MQY measured (apart SSS671). • Test of SSS682 (6MQTLH) stopped, replaced by SSS680. • The proposal will be strictly followed till the end of the tests. • MQTLH: plan to measure SSS679, SSS682 and SSS677. (at least Gdl).
Magnetic measurements on MQM and MQY. • Quantities measured for the main magnet: • Main field integral strength (rotating coil, SSW), magnetic length, as a function of the current. • Integrated and local harmonics as a function of the current (rotating coil). • Decay of the main field and of the multipoles after a reference cycle (rotating coil). • Two measurement cycles (ex MQY): Reference cycle for decay. 3610 A 3610A 3610 A 1000 s saturation 2000 A Geometric Quench 1000 s magnetization 176A 176 A Simulated Machine Cycle with a reference pre-cycle. Load-line (static measurements) Measurements performed after the training of the magnet.

Conclusions. • Measurements on S4 are proceeding well, according the list proposed. • Reserve magnets: Priority given to the TF of all the 3 remaining cold masses containing the MQTL. • Results obtained for the MQY confirmed the values in Block 4 • They are not completely understood (w/c families, b2 decay). However enough to start the modeling process (FIDEL). • The SSS661 (Q5R6) has been added to perform changes of injection current. The other special tests will be carried out in block 4 (see W. Venturini program).
